About Our Founder

Carole Jean Whittington

Carole Jean Whittington is the Founder and Chief Research Officer of the Whittington Institute, an independent research and advisory firm advancing the science of human capacity in sustained high performance.

Her work focuses on how capacity is built, deployed, and compressed under prolonged demand—and the implications this has on performance, decision-making, and long-term leadership sustainability. Through years of applied research and field observation, she has identified consistent patterns that remain largely unmeasured in traditional leadership, performance, and wellness models.

Researcher

At the core of her work is the study of Adaptive Capacity Compression (ACC), the point at which sustained responsibility begins to create measurable physiological, cognitive, and systemic strain before any visible decline in performance. Her approach centers on early detection, precision assessment, and targeted recalibration of the conditions required to sustain high-level output over time in complex environments.

Her methodology integrates stress physiology, adaptive systems theory, nervous system and sensory load, and environmental complexity examining how highly capable individuals adapt to increasing demands in ways that can quietly erode long-term stability if left unaddressed.

Consultant

Carole Jean’s background spans executive leadership, governance, scientific research, and high-stakes operational environments. She is a multi-award-winning leader, author, and speaker whose work has been engaged by organizations including Google, UCLA, Yale, NBCUniversal, and the International Institute for Learning.

Through the Whittington Institute, her work is applied with discretion, rigor, and systems-level precision supporting leaders and organizations where sustained performance is essential and the cost of unseen capacity strain is significant.

Whittington Institute is an independent body of inquiry examining adaptive capacity, resilience trajectory, and preclinical capacity compression in high-performing individuals.
